SHOW OVERVIEW
Goldie is a famous pop star who tours with her band, backup singers, backup dancers, manager, assistant manager, costumer, and, well you get the idea. She and her crew are traveling to New York for an important appearance on America’s Got Talent. As they leave on the tour bus, a mysterious man in black informs us that two worlds are about to collide as Goldie is entering the Twinkie Zone. (It used to be the Twilight Zone, but due to a paid product placement, the name has been changed.)

Meanwhile, the Paddingtons: Mama, Papa, and Meechee — a family of (you guessed it) three bears, leave their home in the forest just as Goldie’s tour bus is about to arrive. As you have probably already figured out, Goldie stops by. She is later joined by the scientists from the Proper Science Bureau and, eventually, the returning bear family.

Through her experiences in the Paddington home, Goldie learns the value of having and being a “real friend” (as well as the importance of having a good costumer.)

Just what will this family of bears do with a pop star? Will the band ever get on America’s Got Talent? Will Goldie ever get out of the Twinkie Zone? Check out Goldie Rocks! and the 3 Bears and see for yourself!

REGISTRATION
Online registration begins December 11, 2018 at 8:00pm on this page. If you try to register after the cast is full, you may add your performer’s name to a waiting list. Please bring the conflict calendar and copy of the birth certificate with you on audition day. The calendar may be downloaded from this web page.

PREPARING FOR YOUR AUDITION
The purpose of the audition is to determine how well students can sing or dance and to determine who can best perform each role. Students are not expected to arrive fully versed as a performer since that is what they are learning in the class.

Please prepare a one-minute song to sing for the artistic staff. You may bring a background music CD or sing by yourself. (Some people have sung “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.” Some come prepared to sing a selection from a Broadway show.)

Dress comfortably for a dance audition. (Clothes and shoes that allow you to move easily, NO sandals or clunky boots.) Everyone is expected to participate in the dance audition as well as the singing and line reading portion of the audition.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
Boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 9. (Age as of the date of auditions.)

CLASS/CAST SIZE
Students are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. The maximum number of students in a cast is 35. If 44 or more students enroll, the class will be expanded to support two casts. (Referred to as a “Double Cast.”) This will allow the class to expand to a maximum of 60 students. If 75 or more students enroll, the class will be expanded to support three casts. (Or a “Triple Cast.”) This will allow the class to expand to a maximum of 105 students. Students who apply after the first 105 spots are filled will be placed on a waiting list.

AUDITIONS
Auditions will be Saturday, January 5, 2019, at 9:00 am at EDMT. Training show productions are open to performers between the ages of 5-9 (as of audition day).

CAST LIST
The cast list will be posted on the EDMT website on Wednesday, January 9th by 5:00 pm.

ABOUT THE EDMT TRAINING SHOW PROGRAM
Training Shows are an ideal way for young people to start learning about performance and theater. For young people who already have some theater experience, it is a unique opportunity to gain further experience acting, singing, and dancing on stage.

Our Training Shows start with the key theater terms and performing. Student performers then progress through actually staging a performance. The show itself is a “lighter” production that is perfectly suited to younger performers.

The first class is a real audition that parallels the audition process used by El Dorado Musical Theatre and most other stage performance groups. Since all students who enroll in the class participate and perform on stage, auditions are for determining who will perform each specific role.

COST
There will be a $225 Tuition Fee for everyone in the show. This is paid online by credit card at the time of registration. Additional expenses may include the purchase of personal items such as shoes, changing leotard, or a wig; and those which are completely optional, such as a cast photo or t-shirt, etc.

REFUND POLICY
– Registered cast members will receive a full refund of tuition, minus a $40.00 processing fee if they remove themselves from the cast at least 48 hours prior to Auditions.

– NO refunds of tuition will be made once the cast list is posted on the EDMT website except in extenuating circumstances such as death in the family, medical injury, serious illness, or surgery not known about prior to auditions.

– NO refunds of tuition will be given to cast members removed from the cast by EDMT staff for behavioral reasons.

Note: Auditionees and their parents are aware that rehearsals are strenuous and require the cast member to have the ability to focus for 30-45 minutes at a time.

The parent participation deposit will be refunded in full. NO refunds of tuition or parent volunteer deposits will be given to cast members removed from the cast by EDMT staff for behavioral reasons.

Note: Auditionees and their parents are aware that rehearsals are strenuous and require the cast member to have the ability to focus for two-and-a-half hours, with one break.

REHEARSALS
Saturdays 9:00 am – 11:00 am (everyone)
Saturdays 9:00am-12:30 pm (leads)

The first rehearsal is the Saturday after auditions (January 12th).

It is extremely important that you download a calendar from the website and mark any schedule conflicts and present them on audition day. Please DO NOT REGISTER if your schedule has more than 2 conflicts on NON-mandatory dates or ANY conflicts with Dress Rehearsal day or Performances. NO absences are allowed during Dress Rehearsal or Performances. Missing any of these important dates may result in being dropped from the show.

Your help is vital for a successful production. Plan on attending the first full cast rehearsal on Saturday, January 12th at 9:00 am at EDMT. There will be an opportunity to meet and hear from the artistic staff, sign up for volunteer roles, and have all of your questions answered.
