The High Voltage 2024-2025 Season Calendar.
The High Voltage Contract (link coming soon).
INFORMATION ABOUT THE HIGH VOLTAGE COMPANY
The High Voltage Company is an audition-only group that performs together for an entire year,
beginning with a week-long camp from July 14-18. 2024, and ending with a final performance at
the Harris Center for the Arts on June 14, 2025. The group size varies from season to season, but
is generally about 18-24 performers ages 13-22. Each member is well trained in their craft, and
when they perform together, the result is magical.
The creative team for High Voltage includes Director/Choreographer Debbie Wilson, and Vocal
Director Jennifer Wittmayer.
The group has performed at venues such as Disneyland, the California State Capital Building,
Carnival Splendor cruise ship, Shriners Hospitals for Children, Harris Center for the Arts, and in
our very own Club EDMT performance space.
INFORMATION ABOUT HIGH VOLTAGE AUDITIONS
Auditions for the 2024-2025 Company will be on June 12, 2024, at 4:00pm at EDMT, 4949
Windplay Drive, El Dorado Hills.
The audition dance will be taught on Wednesday, June 5th, at 6:45pm at EDMT.
On audition day, please arrive to EDMT at 3:45 p.m. to warm up. The audition dance will be
reviewed with all auditionees promptly at 4:00 p.m. Please bring jazz shoes as well as tap shoes
if you tap.
Who may audition for the group?
High Voltage is open for performers between the ages of 13 through 22 (as of the day of
auditions).
What should I prepare?
Please be prepared to sing both an up-tempo song and a ballad, each lasting no longer than one
minute. An accompanist will be available if you have sheet music, or you will email a digital
music file (.MP3, .WAV, .AIF, .M4A) by June 9th.
What are the High Voltage Audition Criteria?
There are four criteria by which High Voltage auditions are evaluated.
Each member needs to be strong in at least three of those areas.
They are:
1. Vocal ability. Can this voice be featured and do they understand the acting element of singing?
Can they learn (quickly) and hold harmony?
2. Dance experience and ability. Can they dance to the level of the group? Can they pick up the
choreography quickly, maintain it, and perform it with tremendous confidence?
3. Performance. Can this person pull an audience in and do they put themselves on the line when
performing? Confidence is key. So is acting!
4. Physical Fitness. Are they a fit performer? Do they have the stamina, strength and health to
keep up with this group?
In addition, age, past reliability, and artistic needs will play into the decisions.
What happens at the Audition?
Auditionees will be seated by number in the audition room. As each number is called, the
auditionee will sing his/her two (2) one-minute songs, one up-tempo and one ballad. After all
auditionees have sung, the auditionees will perform the audition dance in small groups. (The
dance will be reviewed quickly prior to the auditions.) There are no callbacks.
Parents are invited to watch. There will be NO video recording of other auditionees. You may,
however, record your child’s audition.
Do I need a headshot and resume?
It is not required, but recommended if you are new to EDMT.
