This is a MARQUEE PRODUCTION show for performers age 15 – 22 (or 14 if the performer has completed at least one year of high school), and all EDMT Alumni. This production is by “AUDITION ONLY.” Not all who audition will be cast.

SHOW OVERVIEW
In roaring twenties Chicago, chorine Roxie Hart murders a faithless lover and convinces her hapless husband, Amos, to take the rap…until he finds out he’s been duped and turns on Roxie. Convicted and sent to death row, Roxie and another “Merry Murderess,” Velma Kelly, vie for the spotlight and the headlines, ultimately joining forces in search of the “American Dream”: fame, fortune, and acquittal.

PERFORMER’S CALENDAR

Online Registration – Opens Tuesday, (month & day TBD) at 8:00pm.

Audition Dance Routine – Will be taught on (month, day & time TBD), at EDMT’s rehearsal facility (5011 Golden Foothill Parkway, Suite 4, El Dorado Hills, CA 95762).

Auditions – (Month, day & time TBD) at EDMT’s rehearsal facility.

Callbacks – (Month, day & time TBD) at EDMT’s rehearsal facility.

Cast List – Will be posted by 6:00pm on (month, day & time TBD).

Note Regarding Auditions and Callbacks – There will be NO videoing other Auditionees. You may, however, video your own performer.

REGISTRATION
Online registration begins May 12, 2020 at 8:00pm on our website at www.edmt.info/chicago. Please bring your tuition payment (credit card or check made payable to EDMT) with you to auditions. Payment will be processed only for those cast in the show. Please be sure to complete the online medical release form, rules of conduct form, and waiver release form. Please bring your conflict calendar and copy of a birth certificate (if you are new to EDMT) with you on audition day.

Those who did not have an opportunity to register online before the deadline may register on audition day if space allows.

AUDITIONS
Thursday, May 21, 2020 at 3:30 pm at EDMT’s Rehearsal Facility, 5011 Golden Foothill Parkway #4, El Dorado Hills.

When you arrive you may be measured for costumes.

Auditionees will be seated by number in a row of 10 chairs in the audition room.  Parents are invited to watch.  When your number is called, you will come forward, introduce yourself and your song, and then sing for up to one minute. You may sing acapella, with an instrumental CD, or you may bring sheet music for the accompanist. We do not allow CDs with lyrics on the CD, nor iPods or cell phones.

Next, 20 auditionees will perform the dance audition for the staff in groups of five.  Some groups of auditionees will sing first and dance second, and others will dance first and sing second. Those who did not learn the audition dance routine on Thursday, May 14th can come early and learn the dance on the day of auditions.

Finally, the Artistic Staff will announce the audition numbers of those who are being called back.  Those called back will proceed immediately to the “Callback Table” in the registration room where they will pick up any songs/scripts needed in preparation for the callback day on Thursday.

CALLBACKS
Friday, May 22, 2020 at 3:30pm at EDMT’s Rehearsal Facility
Those called back will be asked to read lines from the script and sing the song(s) they were given at the “Callback Table” at auditions.  They should also be prepared to dance.

CAST LIST
The cast list will be posted on the EDMT website on Tuesday, May 26th by 6:00pm.

PUBLICITY APPEARANCES
Cast members obtaining lead roles are expected to make themselves available for publicity events such as television appearances and newspaper interviews.

The $445 tuition fee must be paid prior to auditioning.  All performers who are not cast in the show will be immediately refunded the $445 tuition fee.

Volunteer participation is required in the amount of 20 hours per family, 3 of which must be completed at load in or load out.  Additional volunteer participation opportunities will be discussed at the parent meeting.  All volunteer logs MUST be turned in to the show Producer no later Friday, August 7, 2020.  If you have met your 20 hours, you will be entered into a lottery for a pre-registration for ONE show of your choice during the 2020-2021 season (5 volunteers will be chosen to receive the pre-registration).

Additional expenses may include the purchase of personal items such as shoes, changing leotard, or a wig; and those which are completely optional, such as, a cast photo, souvenir mug or ornament, T-shirt, etc.

REFUND POLICY
NO refunds of tuition will be made once the cast list is posted on the EDMT website, except in extenuating circumstances such as death in the family, or a medical injury, serious illness or surgery not known about prior to auditions.

  • Registered cast members will receive a full refund of tuition, minus a $75.00 processing fee if they remove themselves from the cast before 5:00pm on May 19, 2020.
  • Registered cast members will receive one-half refund of tuition, minus a $75.00 processing fee, if they remove themselves after 5:00pm on May 19, 2020, but before the cast list is posted.
  • NO refunds of tuition will be given for withdrawal after the cast list is posted.
  • NO refunds of tuition will be given to cast members removed from the cast by EDMT staff for behavioral reasons.

Note: Auditionees and their parents are aware that rehearsals are strenuous and require the cast member to have the ability to focus for two-and-a-half hours, with one break.

REHEARSALS
Rehearsals will begin Friday, May 29, 2020 at EDMT.

Please review the Performer’s Calendar carefully, as the rehearsal schedule is irregular due to summer PAI class schedules and Disney’s Aladdin JR rehearsals.

Rehearsal schedules are subject to change. It is extremely important that you download the Performer’s Calendar from the website and mark any schedule conflicts and present them with registration forms on audition day.

Please note that mandatory rehearsals begin on Monday, July 13th and the show runs from July 24th through August 2nd at Oak Ridge High School Theater in El Dorado Hills.
