Saturday, October 30th, at 2:30pm at EDMT’s Rehearsal Facility.  When you arrive you will be measured for costumes and have a photo taken for the program.

  • You may bring sheet music for the accompanist.  We will send an email after registration with instructions on how to use music electronically for auditions.
  • Auditionees will be seated by number in a row of 10 chairs in the audition room.  Parents are invited to watch.  When your number is called, you will come forward, introduce yourself and your song, and then sing for up to one minute.
  • Next, 20 auditionees will perform the dance audition for the staff in groups of five.  Some groups of auditionees will sing first and dance second, and others will dance first and sing second.
  • Finally, the Artistic Staff will announce the audition numbers of those who are being called back.  Those called back will proceed immediately to the “Callback Table” to pick up any songs/scripts needed in preparation for the callback day on Tuesday.

Tuesday, November 2nd, at 4:00pm at EDMT’s Rehearsal Facility.  Those called back will be asked to read lines from the script and sing the song(s) they were given at the “Callback Table” at auditions.  They should also be prepared to dance.

NO refunds of tuition will be made once the cast list is posted on the EDMT website on November 5th, except in extenuating circumstances such as death in the family, or a medical injury, serious illness or surgery not known about prior to registration.

  • Registered cast members will receive a full refund of tuition, minus a $75.00 processing fee, if they remove themselves from the cast at least 48 hours prior to auditions, which would be October 27th by midnight.

Note: Performers and their parents are aware that rehearsals require the performer to have the ability to focus for two-and-a-half hours, with one break.

Rehearsals begin on Thursday, November 11th, 4:00pm-6:15pm at EDMT; this will be a read-through with leads; new cast members or those who have only been in a training show will have a “newbie” orientation from 4:00-5:00pm.  The first rehearsal for the entire cast will be on Sunday, November 14th, 1:00-4:00pm.

Please review the calendar closely.  The rehearsal schedule changes each month.  Note: Rehearsal schedules are subject to change.

Mandatory rehearsals begin on Monday, January 24th and the show runs from February 4th through February 13th at Oak Ridge High School in El Dorado Hills.

Each cast member is allowed three (3) absences on NON-MANDATORY DATES before being removed from the show.  Arriving more than 15 minutes late or leaving more than 15 minutes early constitutes a one-half absence.  NO absences are allowed during mandatory rehearsals, tech week or show dates.  Missing any of these important dates may result in being dropped from the show.

Parents of cast members NEW to EDMT or cast members who have only done an EDMT training show must attend the PARENT MEETING on Thursday, November 11th, 4:00-5:00pm, where you will receive important information critical to the success of your cast member and show. This is during the time where your new performer will be called to a “newbie” orientation. There will be a reminder in the first newsletter you will receive after the cast list is posted. Failure to attend this meeting will result in an absence that will count against the three absences allowed per child during the entire rehearsal period.  Parents of cast members who have previously participated in EDMT shows are welcome; however, attendance is not required.

Our volunteers are some of the most important people in our organization.  Without our volunteers, our productions would not be possible.  Volunteers are needed for rehearsals, poster blitz, set painting, shows, costume and prop support, etc.

Because of this, each family is required to complete at least 20 volunteer hours for this show, which includes 3 hours of load-in or load-out.  A link to sign up for volunteer positions will be sent in the newsletter.  Instructions to complete a volunteer log will also be included in the newsletter.  This form must be turned in no later than February 13th.

Click HERE to review the current EDMT Safety Protocol.

NEW participants to EDMT since August 2020 are required to sign an EDMT Waiver and Release Form.  Once registered, participants will receive the waiver via DocuSign.  The form must be signed and returned prior to the first rehearsal.

There are standards of behavior you are expected to follow when you participate in any EDMT activity.  They are very simple and can be followed by anyone who knows how to behave appropriately in the company of others.  What does that mean specifically?  We expect every participant to be courteous, respectful, and responsible while understanding that focus, dedication, and commitment are necessary to achieve the group’s goals.

We expect each participant to be punctual and prepared for rehearsal.  Prepared by knowing the material that was covered in the previous rehearsals, and also prepared by being well-groomed and dressed for movement (no jeans) and wearing dance footwear (no tennis shoes).

We also expect that everyone participating in EDMT activities will take good care of the facility; both our rehearsal areas and our performance venues and equipment.  That means cleaning up after yourself and taking your belongings home with you at the end of rehearsal.

It should be no surprise that we have a zero tolerance policy towards any substance abuse.  Violations will result in immediate dismissal and appropriate authorities may be contacted.

Every EDMT participant should understand that their contributions towards a positive, healthy, and supportive environment are necessary for the group to be successful and to ensure that every El Dorado Musical Theatre production is the best it can be for each and every audience member as well as for each and every performer.
