NEW participants to EDMT since August 2020 are required to sign an EDMT Waiver and Release Form to acknowledge their understanding of the important new practices in place to protect all students and staff members against COVID-19.  Once registered, participants will receive the waiver via DocuSign.  The form must be signed and returned prior to the first rehearsal.

[New to EDMT:  Bring a copy of your birth certificate to your dance audition to verify your age.]

VOCAL AUDITIONS
Submit a one-minute vocal audition video of yourself, including an introduction (name, age, song title), to edmt@edmt.info, by Thursday, January 28th by midnight.  If you receive a callback, material for the callback will be provided at the dance auditions.  Please review the vocal audition submission guidelines below in FAQs.

DANCE AUDITIONS
Dance auditions are in-person on Saturday, January 30th, at EDMT’s rehearsal facility.  Masks are required; and auditionees will be assigned to small groups.  Participants will receive a video link for the audition dance via email on January 25th.  Participants will also be emailed their dance audition time for January 30th.  This will be a closed audition; performers only, no parents.

CAST LIST
The cast list will be posted on the EDMT website on Friday, February 5th at 7:30pm.

CAST GROUPS
Once the show is cast, performers will be split into groups of about 20 people or so and rehearse masked.  Each of those groups will rotate being in musical numbers and scenes as to not have too many people together in one place at one time.  Our rehearsals will be socially distanced and our facility will continue to be cleaned constantly and thoroughly.  We will continue to sanitize common areas as groups of performers come and go.

COST
$550 Tuition Fee (for each sibling, add $500)

CANCELLATION POLICY
NO refunds of tuition will be made once the cast list is posted on the EDMT website on February 5th, except in extenuating circumstances such as death in the family, or a medical injury, serious illness or surgery not known about prior to registration.

Registered cast members will receive a full refund of tuition, minus a $75.00 processing fee, if they remove themselves from the cast at least 48 hours prior to the vocal audition video deadline, on January 26th by midnight.

Registered cast members will receive one-half refund of tuition, minus a $75.00 processing fee, if they remove themselves between January 27th and February 4th.

To request a cancellation prior to the cast list being posted, send an email to edmt@edmt.info.  Make sure to include performer’s name, parent’s name and phone number, and reason for canceling.

NO refunds of tuition will be given to performers removed from a group by EDMT staff for behavioral reasons.

Note: Performers and their parents are aware that rehearsals require the performer to have the ability to focus for two-and-a-half hours, with one break.

REHEARSALS
Rehearsals begin on Sunday, February 7th at EDMT; this will be a read-through with leads.  New cast members or those who have only been in a training show are scheduled to attend a rehearsal introduction on Sunday, February 7th at EDMT from 2:30-3:30pm.  The first rehearsal for the entire cast will be Tuesday, February 9th.

Our regular rehearsal schedule will be Tuesdays 3:30-6:00pm, Thursdays 3:30-6:00pm, and Sundays 2:00-6:00pm (leads).  Each cast group’s rehearsal day and time assignments will be based on what the artistic staff needs to accomplish each week.  The cast groups will be notified of their rehearsal days and times in the weekly newsletter.  It is extremely important that you review the calendar from our website, and provide schedule conflicts when you arrive for the dance audition.

Each cast member is allowed three (3) absences on NON-MANDATORY DATES before being removed from the show.  Arriving more than 15 minutes late or leaving more than 15 minutes early constitutes a one-half absence.  NO absences are allowed during mandatory rehearsals, tech week or filming dates.  Missing any of these important dates may result in being dropped from the show.

All rehearsal and filming dates between March 23rd and May 15th are mandatory.  Performers will be called and must be available for mandatory rehearsals and filming based on the needs of the artistic staff.  The schedule will be released at a later date.

Rehearsals and filming will take place at EDMT, 5011 Golden Foothill Pkwy, Unit #4, in El Dorado Hills, CA.

MANDATORY PARENT MEETING
Parents of cast members NEW to EDMT or cast members who have only done an EDMT training show must attend the PARENT MEETING on Sunday, February 7th from 2:30-3:30pm, where you will receive important information critical to the success of your cast member and the show.  This is during the time where your new performer will be called to a “newbie” rehearsal introduction.  There will be a reminder in the first newsletter you will receive after the cast list is posted.  Failure to attend this meeting will result in an absence that will count against the three absences allowed per child during the entire rehearsal period.  Parents of cast members who have previously participated in EDMT shows are welcome; however, attendance is not required.

VOLUNTEER HOURS
Each family is required to complete 20 volunteer hours for this show, which includes helping with filming load-in or load-out.  A link to sign up for volunteer positions will be sent in the newsletter.  Instructions to complete a volunteer log will also be included in the newsletter.  This form must be turned in by May 15th.

HEALTH & SAFETY
EDMT’s standard health and safety procedures will continue to be in place:

  • Temperature checks for all participants and staff upon arrival
  • Masks required for all participants and staff members
  • Facility disinfecting before each group of performers arrive
  • Social distancing in place

EDMT Safety Protocol Link

NEW participants to EDMT since August 2020 are required to sign an EDMT Waiver and Release Form (with COVID clause) to acknowledge their understanding of the important new practices in place to protect all participants and staff members against COVID-19.

PERFORMER RULES OF CONDUCT
There are standards of behavior you are expected to follow when you participate in any EDMT activity.  They are very simple and can be followed by anyone who knows how to behave appropriately in the company of others.  What does that mean specifically?  We expect every participant to be courteous, respectful, and responsible while understanding that focus, dedication, and commitment are necessary to achieve the group’s goals.

We expect each participant to be punctual and prepared for rehearsal.  Prepared by knowing the material that was covered in the previous rehearsals, and also prepared by being well-groomed and dressed for movement (no jeans) and wearing dance footwear (no tennis shoes).

We also expect that everyone participating in EDMT activities will take good care of the facility; both our rehearsal areas and our performance venues and equipment.  That means cleaning up after yourself and taking your belongings home with you at the end of rehearsal.

It should be no surprise that we have a zero tolerance policy towards any substance abuse.  Violations will result in immediate dismissal and appropriate authorities may be contacted.

Every EDMT participant should understand that their contributions towards a positive, healthy, and supportive environment are necessary for the group to be successful and to ensure that every El Dorado Musical Theatre production is the best it can be for each and every audience member as well as for each and every performer.

SCHOLARSHIP
EDMT awards up to three major scholarships for a show with a cast size of 50+, to individuals deemed most appropriate from the pool of applications.

A scholarship may be all or part of one tuition charge.

Parents are still responsible for completing their volunteer hours.  Scholarship recipients will not be eligible for another scholarship if parent participation hours are not completed. High school or college students may opt to complete the parent volunteer hours on their own.

Award decisions will be made based on potential benefit to applicant, potential benefit to the show, and financial need.  Scholarship recipients must be in good standing with the organization and commit to remain in the show regardless of whether or not a lead role is obtained.  They also may be asked from time to time to help out at the EDMT facility.

The deadline for applications is January 18th at 8:00pm.  Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.  Recipients of scholarships will be notified by email no later than 12:00pm on Tuesday, January 19th.  Click HERE to download the scholarship application.

Please e-mail the completed application to chrishobbs@edmt.info.
